Mike Atkinson
Mike Atkinson was born in 1937 and describes himself as a true Warwickshire Lad. He was the youngest ever student to gain a scholarship at Margaret Street College of Art at the tender age of 14 studying porcelain design.
He later worked for a time at the famed Hurllston Studio as an illustrator, gaining his M.S.I.A. at the first attempt at the Mall Gallery, London at the age of 22. Mike then became a freelance illustrative painter, exhibiting in London, Europe, USA, enjoying a private clientele worldwide.
He has had many commissions from International organisations, including producing Limited edition signed Lithographs. Subjects include animals, figures, landscapes along with a strong interest in vintage and veteran cars and of which Mike has compiled numerous commissions, including The National Motor Museum.
Over the years he has designed and illustrated over 40 collection plates and domestic porcelain, clients which include, Royal Worcester and Royal Doulton.
Mike is now based in Truro, where his artwork can be seen by appointment only.
He will be of great interest to collectors of wildlife art,publishers for book illustration and anyone who wants a private commision ie:animal portraits
Mike's paintings are unbelievably highly detailed and the pictures on this site are very low resolution, you will be amazed when you see the originals.
